Shawnee Christian Healthcare Center (SCHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving West Louisville, Kentucky. Specifically, SCHC serves the Shawnee-Chickasaw neighborhood, which is one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city. As an FQHC, SCHC is charged with providing high quality comprehensive primary care to underserved populations including those who are low-income and/or uninsured. SCHC operates a primary care clinic, a dental clinic, three school-based health centers with primary care and dental, and seven additional schools where we provide only dental care. SCHC was born out of an understanding that addressing complex health conditions requires a comprehensive, community approach, that cannot be accomplished using traditional curative/preventative clinic models. We believe that if you do not address the total needs of an individual - physical, psychological, social, environmental and spiritual - you cannot expect to see a change in their overall health.
